This specific segment, entitled "San Diego People: The Opioid Epidemic" was nominated for an Emmy for Best Interview Segment

Overview: KUSI News Anchor, Sandra Maas, discusses the ever growing problem of the opioid epidemic within the San Diego community. Sandra sits down with two doctors and talks about how this epidemic started, how it impacts people, and how addicts can get help. Later in the episode, Sandra sits down with recovering heroin addict Hollie Johnson to talk about her road to recovery, along with her harrowing escape from the depths and despair of opioid addiction.

The below video was written, produced, and edited by myself. I also set up the interviews with the people in the segment. The segment is entitled "San Diego People: Border Wars" and was inspired due to the ongoing debate concerning the building of a border wall on the southern border of the United States.

Leaders from the LGBTQ+ gather in Hillcrest for a candlelight vigil for the victims. KUSI News recaps the deadliest mass shootings throughout U.S. history. Later in the newscast, CNN's Dianne Gallagher joins us live from Orlando to discuss the aftermath of the shooting.
